Canon Rebel XSi ” The First EOS Digital SLR Camera

Canon Rebel XSi Digital SLR Camera is a compact digital single lens reflex camera with a 12.2-megapixel large single-plate CMOS sensor. Also known as EOS Kiss X2 and EOS 450D, it belongs to Canons Electro-Optical System (EOS) line of digital SLR cameras. It is an upgrade to the EOS 400D/Digital Rebel XTi. You can use it with Canon EF and EF-S lenses.

It uses a high-resolution, large single plate CMOS sensor that has 12.2 megapixels. Its CMOS sensor offers clear images and great tonal range. It features DIGIC III and uses an APS-C (Advanced Photo System type-C) image sensor format. These features were redesigned to enable the camera to shoot with incredible speed and great image quality.

It has analog to digital converter, which is executed by a 14-bit processor. It enables you to produce digital data with remarkably smooth tones. Both RAW and JPEG images use this rich 14-bit gradation to have the highest image quality. With its Highlight Tone Priority option, you can increase exposure of a detail without affecting the overall exposure.

There is also the Auto Lighting Optimizer or Auto Optimization option. It is a Canon image-quality tool that helps you lighten dark areas while maintaining the tonal details of the other parts in bright areas. This Auto Optimization option is available in all shooting modes such as P, Tv, Av and Manual.

Considered as one of the fastest camera available today, it has continuous shooting speed of approximately 3.5 shots per second. It can produce JPEG images of up to 53 shots and 6 RAW files in bursts. It has instant start up time and minimal shutter time lag.

Canon Rebel XSi Digital SLR Camera has a large 3.0-inch LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels where you can view camera settings like AF, ISO, Metering, AF Point selection and flash options. With the Live View function you can magnify any part of the scene. The monitor also allows a wide viewing angle of 170 degrees with superior viewing in daylight.

It has an advanced and adaptable Auto Focus with high-precision 9-point wide area AF sensor. It has several focus modes including the two AF modes in Live View Function. One is the Quick mode which is ideal for shooting moving subjects or shooting on low light. The other one is the Live mode, which reads the sharpness of the subject.

The storage devices used in Canon Rebel XSi digital SLR camera are Secure Digital or SD and Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards. It is notable for being the first EOS digital SLR camera to use both memory cards. Another remarkable feature is its improved viewfinder that provides increased brightness, large overall view and increased clarity. With its Display-off sensor that turns off the LCD whenever you shoot, you are always ready.

It employs a lot of different features including 35-zone evaluative metering system and E-TTL II flash metering system. It also comes with a Canon Digital Solution Disk containing software programs. The camera is also compatible with other Canon accessories and lenses.
