Will the iPhone 5 be able to Halt the Success of the Galaxy SII?

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Samsung is currently enjoying enormous success with the Galaxy SII, which is quickly becoming the fastest selling Android phone of all time, outperforming its predecessor the Galaxy S. With more than 5 million sales in less than 3 months, and a total of 10 million expected by the end of the year, the SII is proving to be highly popular, despite the fact that it has yet to go on sale in the United States, on of the world’s largest smartphone markets.

The Galaxy SII has been the first phone to knock the iPhone 4 from its top spot of bestselling smartphone in the UK, although the iPhone sold more units in a similar time frame to the SII. So while the iPhone still remains the most popular single handset, the Galaxy SII is certainly giving it a run for its money and is the biggest threat to Apple world domination. Apple is aware of this, and not pleased either, with recent lawsuits in the United States seeking to ban the import of Samsung phones.

This is because Apple feel that the SII is too similar to the iPhone in physical appearance, and in terms of its Google Android OS. Perhaps this is the reason for its success? It is easy for Apple to think that the similarities are causing people to get confused between the iPhone and the SII, and purchase the latter device by mistake. But this scenario does not really make much sense. The iPhone is a powerful brand and people will not be fooled easily into buying another device if they have their hearts set on one.

While there are many people who love the iPhone there are also many people who love Android, who feel that it offers more freedom and flexibility, and a better user experience than Apple phones. These consumers were probably not inclined to buy an iPhone in the first place, and so the popularity of the Galaxy SII has most probably not been at the expense of the iPhone 4. The question is, will people still be rushing to buy the Galaxy SII when the iPhone 5 is released in the coming months? The iPhone 5 will be a big hit, we can take that for granted, but by that time Samsung will most likely have a new flagship up its sleeves. This is also the first time that Apple really seems to be playing catchup, with many of the iPhone 5’s features already being implemented on Android.

Assuming broken phones are worthless is a mistake

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Often, when products are broken they are immediately rendered worthless. After all, not many people want to purchase items they cannot use.

Of course there are exceptions to this and objects that contain materials of inherent value are among these, as are offerings that can be fixed with the appropriate know-how.

So, consumers who own mobile phones that are no longer working should not immediately assume the items are fit only for the bin. If they do, they might be making a costly and wasteful mistake.

Instead, they can head online to Mazuma Mobile to investigate the possibility of exchanging the phones for cash. Because the organisation has links with firms and manufacturers capable of repairing the items, it values even broken versions.

And, given the tough nature of the economic conditions currently facing consumers in the UK, the additional money generated via such transactions may come in particularly handy.

Mobile phones are intricate devices and all it takes is one or two minor problems to render them unusable. By the same token, with a few relatively simple tweaks these impressive items can be brought back to life.

And, once the products are back in action, they are sold on to people who need them in countries such as China and India.

Regardless of whether people want to sell Nokia mobile phones or any other type of handset, it is worthwhile taking a look at the Mazuma site. They could make money and help the planet at the same time.
